Monteriggioni 1213-1554

9 July 2022 - 10 July 2022

Attraversando la Storia del grande Castello

The two-days-event is focused on the re-enactment of two significant moments of Monteriggioni Castle’s history: its foundation in 1213 and its fall in 1554.

On July  9th the castle will be brought back to the 13th century; what we want to show is a community in its best decades, made up of a population basically divided into nobles, artisans and soldiers.

On July 10th, the Castle will relive the year 1554 and in particular the day of the capture of Monteriggioni. Its fall took place after a series of clashes and it followed the betrayal of Giovanni Zeti, a Florentine exile and commander of the garrison. A community in a state of siege will be represented, with the castle mainly characterised by soldiers mixed with the normal activities of the artisans.
